5 year old Bay gelding, Single Crown (Not a Single Doubt x Shebrings Class) took home the chocolates in the last at the Sapphire Coast meeting on 12 June 2022 after winning the 1405 metre BM58 race, thanks to a peach of a ride from young jockey, Madi Waters.
Single Crown jumped well from barrier 2. However, shortly after, he settled back and was encouraged to switch off at the rear of the pack during the run. He would be tasked with having one last crack at them down the straight.
At the corner of the turn into the straight, Madi held her nerve on the inside rail and, happily, an inside run appeared for her shortly after turning into the straight. Single Crown kept grinding away and even finding a nice kick in the last 50 metres to scoot away for a win, beating home in 2nd position, Another Star and in 3rd position, Stryke ‘Em Onesie.
