3 year old Gelding, Copper Moon (Super One x The Copper Sun) wins his Maiden in just his very first start after he took home the chocolates when he won the 1000 metre Class 1 Race at Kembla Grange on 31 January 2023. Jeff Penza took the ride.
With only a field of four runners, Copper Moon jumped from barrier 3.
Copper Moon jumped great from the barriers and was able to cross over to take a sit on the outside following the leader. He travelled well throughout the race for Jeff and looked a strong hope at the turn into the straight.
He showed great fight to beat off the leader and took the lead to win by about 1 1/2 lengths to Artieos with a big gap back to Rebel Rosai running third.
We are thrilled to get the win for Proven Thoroughbreds. We have some lovely horses coming through with Proven, including this stunner, Copper Moon. We hope that the next win is just as spectacular as this one. Congratulations to all connections.
