4y/o Mare, Justela (Odyssey Moon x Just Pamela) has ticked off her Maiden win after crossing the line first at Gosford in the set weights maiden race with jockey, Jason Collett on board.
The lightly raced mare got away to a good start and, shortly after, was able to get herself into a box seat position trailing the leaders back on the fence – the leader was keen to get a move on and put a decent gap to the trailing Justela and the rest of the field.
Justela looked to settle beautifully in the run for Collett. At approaching the turn Collett asked her to start dialling up her effort to catch up to the still clearly leading front runner. She travelled up sweetly and was able to close the gap at the point of the swing into the straight.
With some great riding from Jason, Justela was able to tick off her Maiden win from just the four starts in impressive fashion, beating home, by nearly two lengths, Atacama in 2nd and Never Bird in 3rd.
We loved to see her knuckle down and chase down the leader. She showed a great will to win and we are delighted for her patient owners.
