It was so great to see 3y/o Chestnut Gelding, Close Encounter (Nicconi x Splat) get home best in the 1000 metre Midway dash at his home track, Kembla Grange on 27 April 2024, ridden by jockey, Lee Magorrian.
Close Encounter rattled home with an eye catching run down the outside of the pack down the straight, beating home Shamrock Sally in 2nd and Pretty Rho in 3rd, to secure his first win from only 4 starts with a second placing in tow. He is notching up a nice little record with plenty of improvement to come.
