3 year old Dundeel filly, Hope In Your Heart won the 1400 metre Class 1 race at Goulburn on 31 October 2021.
“Trish” had veteran jockey, Jeff Penza on board and they jumped from barrier 2.
After jumping well, Trish was taken back to the rear of the field and raced in the last pair on the outside of the short priced favourite, King of Spades. She kept improving as the race unfolded and was able to move up closer to the leaders not far from the turn into the home straight. Jeff kept her one off the rails to ensure a clear run.
Trish ran with her ears pricked most of the way down the straight, showing that she is still learning what racing is all about.
Despite the race being on Halloween, it was not a spooky watch, Trish won comfortably and proved way too good for her rivals, sprinting away to lock down the win, beating home King of Spades in 2nd and Outahand in 3rd.
Trish has had a successful recent preparation winning 2 of her 3 starts from only 7 career starts in total. She is still mastering her craft and hopefully after her spell, she can come back and we look forward to another preparation with her.
Trish has some very handy siblings to follow – to name a few, Heartlings, Heartlet, Rising Light who have many wins to their names and Tampering who ran in the $700,000.00 Four Pillars race last weekend. He ran a super race, finishing 5th of 18 runners, and was only about 2 lengths behind the winner.
