Promising 4y/o Proven Thoroughbreds mare, Bang On Time (Almanzor (FR) x Danahere(NZ)), took home the win at Newcastle on 11 April 2026, winning the 1250 metre Fillies & Mares Maiden Race with jockey, Chad Lever.
Bang On Time’s patient owners were rewarded with a thrilling race and an even more thrilling last 100 metres of the race. The mare looked all but signed up for the dreaded “forgive run”, being blocked in badly a lot of the way down the home straight.
However, Bang On Time got the daylight and bravely took the split when asked by Chad and she powered home, managing to knuckle down and hold off Get Litt who finished in 2nd position and Pink Persuasion in 3rd. We think she looks like a lovely distance prospect in time and hope that her next win is not too far off.
