Handy galloper, Acceber has taken out the 2000 metre race at Canberra on 8 December 2023, ridden by Nick Heywood.
Acceber has a nice little record in tow to date – 23 starts for 2 wins and 8 minor placings.
Starting as favourite for the race, Acceber jumped fairly. He was three wide into the first turn but was soon able to tuck in and take a sit towards the rear of the field.
he looked to travel nicely for Nick and at the 600 metre mark, Nick sent him on forward to begin his run into the straight to tackle the leader, who had skipped away at the turn.
Acceber showed big heart and guts. He took the lead but was then challenged and fell back but he really knuckled down and grinded away and was able to poke his head in front again right on the line.
What a determined win. lovely horse and we are super proud.
