2nd Win from All American 3 Year Old, Dark Dream

Jan 22, 2018

Dark Dream has notched up his 2nd win, along with 2 seconds, from just 4 career starts as a three year old.

Dark Dream won the BM 71 1900 metre race at Canterbury Park on Friday night being the 19th January 2018.

Dark Dream went in to the race as a short price favourite and the market mover, coming in from $3.50 on opening to $1.60 at the jump. He jumped from barrier 1 with Brenton Avdulla taking the ride.

The All American gelding jumped well and in the early stages of the staying event, ran a clear first followed closely by the roughie of the field, Jarrett (whom he had already beaten on debut).

The race was run at a solid tempo for the initial stages. Mid race, Brenton was able to slow he tempo down and allow Dark Dream to have a breather along the back straight, with the rest of the field tacking on to his back.

In order to avoid the “flat spot” he hits at the turn, Avdulla was sure to stoke him up just before the turn and he ran in to the straight a clear 1st. His run down the straight was quite green, with him weaving and not completely letting down. However, the last 20 metres were great. Very pleased with how he hit the line.

This was a great win and we are excited to see what the future has to hold for big “Nicko”.

He will now go to the paddock for a well deserved spell and we will be excited to have him back in training sometime soon.

congratulations to owner / breeder, Mary Jane.
